Explanation of Artifact
Obituary:
Finding someone that was aboard the Titanic to do an obituary helped my research. I chose someone that had the chance to get off the ship but still ended up dying in the wreck. By being able to choose who I wanted to write the obituary on I was able to look closer at the people on the ship. The passengers and crew, what divisions they were, why they were on the boat, all this information came to surface when I was researching.
Wanted Poster:
I did a wanted poster because I know how many people think that the wreck was the captain's fault. I personally don't believe it was, and I personally believe he died with complete honor by going down with his ship. However, some people say that if he had gotten off the boat then they would have hunted him down themselves, and I wanted to show how ridiculous that is. His mistake was an honest one, and he DID go down with the ship with honor, so what someone would have done if something else would have happened is irrelevant.
Collage:
I like collages, and a picture can describe a thousand words. However, when the picture IS words it describe even more. The words in the collage are made to make people think about the whole incident and come up with even more words. Everyone thinks of the Titanic as a tragedy and although what happened to it and to the people on the ship was a tragedy, the ship itself was a beautiful man made creation, and I think this picture collaboration or words helps show that.
Timeline:
Part of my goal was to find out more about the timeline of the Titanic. I wanted to map out the dates to know how long the masterpiece took to be built. I would have assumed it would take 20 years to build a ship like her, which I'm sure the planning did, but it only took 3 years to build it. This helped in my research by also being able to understand the amount of hard work that obviously went into building a shit of that size in that short period of time.
